DESIGN by Colley Whisson

I like to follow the "Golden Mean Theory” when thinking about my design.

This theory relates to proportion and harmony. I start by dividing my surface into one-third or two-thirds, especially when I know where to place my primary focal point. The focal point must be the first and last area that the viewer stops at. By using lead-in lines to and from our primary focal point, we will be on our way to achieving a striking composition. I'm also careful to ensure these lines are at different strengths; this will enhance our overall visual story.

Remember, we are the director of our movies, and our painting surface is our stage.  Our main star will be placed at the focal point, our co-star at the secondary point, and the supporting cast at our tertiary point. We are aiming to create a triangular shape where these three points connect. If we stick to this approach, we will achieve success more often than not.

Remember, we are the director of our own movie and our painting surface is our stage.
